Good Comfort Food.
I've recently started going to Chapala's since it's in my neighborhood. I asked, and apparently it's been here a while, but I hadn't noticed it before. It's a little tucked away in a new shopping center, so it is easy to miss. The people are friendly, service is pretty good and the food is . . . fabulous!!! I had a filete relleno, which is a stuffed sea bass, the other day which was just incredible. My boyfriend went with the old stand by, a carne asada plate, which he really liked. We washed everything down with a couple of margaritas each, and left for home happy.
I'd recommend this place for sure.
Avoid altogether. This mexican restaurant is not like your ordinary mexican locally owned restaurant. If you've ever eaten at Guadalajara's, that's home cookin. This restaurant uses lard and I mean real authentic lard in their beans, gross. The servers, if they don't know you, then you get ignored and sloppy service. If they know you and know you'll leave a good tip you better believe they will be catering to you. Very unprofessional in my opinion. If you want some good authentic mexican food, check out Guadalajara's or Plaza Ventana (for something a little more fancy). Don't waste your money at this establishment. Please note, that the owner of this restaurant is not the same owner as the one on Friant & Champlain.
