Beware. DD and I went to Maida's Touch. DD tried doing her own highlights at home and the result was so bad she wanted to stay home from school! So I made an emergency appt at Maida's because our regular guy at a different salon wasn't available that day. I saw reviews of MT's online and they were good. But whoever posted those reviews–probably her friends and family–must have been dipping heavily into crack. First thing we noticed when we went in … incredibly tasteless and hideous statue/table (glass table resting on boobs of statue, statue looks like blowsy saloon–not salon–girl). Second thing: Maida (owner) was talking on phone, she was the receptionist and her own hair looked like crap, she continued to negotiate her lease for five minutes after we got there and kept looking at us and winking like we were sympathizing with her, instead of putting party on hold and getting us to a stylist. Okay. We should have walked out of there right then. But we were desperate and she did get good reviews online. Then we tell her exactly what we want, and she does the complete opposite. I go up at one point and remind the stylist what we asked for, she goes over to the owner and tells her what I said, the owner says something in Russian or whatever to the stylist (probably cussing me out and telling the stylist to ignore me), and then … DD seems to LIKE her hair even though I hate it. Blond chunks in the dark, dark patches, gawd … so I pay (after the owner clearly looks me up and down and I can see her calculating what she thinks I can afford!), and I tip, because DD says she likes it. We get in the car, we’re driving away, and DD says she hates it. The downside of being nice. So we go back to our regular guy the next day and he fixes it beautifully. Beware . . .

Lori is the BEST. Lori is the best manicurist there. I highly recommend her. If I was doing this rating on just her it would all be "highly recommend". She does a wonderful job and beautiful, detailed art.
