A Family Owned Favorite. Traveling through Fresno, I decided to stop at the famous little restaurant I'd heard so much about, Cuca's. I stepped in, was immediately greeted- a big plus for me. The decor in this place was tastefully festive- accompanied by Latin music in the background. I loved the ambiance and smiles the waitresses shared with the customers. The waitresses were very sweet and seemed so happy. Later I discovered most of them were related; cousin's, aunts, sisters, uncles, etc. It had that great family feeling. My food was delicious! I had the Combo platter; Taco, Burrito, and a Chile Relleno w/ beans and rice (figured I'd try it all). Thank you Cuca's for the delightful experience, this Ventura local will be returning soon.…
Good food, great tortillas and salsa.
The entrees are good, but what makes this little place stand out is the superb house-made tortillas and salsas. Their red salsa is hot and flavorfull and the fresh pico de gaillo is so tasty there
has to be a secret ingredient.
The service is genuinely friendly and very efficient.…
It's well worth a trip to the southern part of the city for Cuca's delicious Mexican food..
The Scene:
Cuca's is a little Mexican restaurant in the Tower District that could easily be overlooked, a shame for anyone who loves authentic Mexican food. Cuca's serves traditional
Mexican fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including Nopales con Huevos (scrambled eggs with cactus), which comes with beans, tortillas, and potatoes on the side so you can make a breakfast burrito out of it. Dinner includes dishes such as Rib Steak or Pork Chops Rancheros (your choice of meat with ranch sauce, onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, and bell peppers) and deep-fried chimichangas. Everything is reasonably priced and the setting is festive but casual. You might want to call ahead for large parties as space can be limited.
If you order one thing:
Try the Steak a la Chicana.…
2 Great Locations. The new Cuca's is located in the Tower District and offers similar food to the original Cuca's located in Chinatown near Downtown Fresno. Family owned, this place serves great Mexican food very quickly. At the Chinatown restaurant, you eat at the counter or small boothes -- I don't think the place will fit more than 30. When you sit at the counter, you get to watch grandma slicing up goodies for menudo which is a favorite. The Cuca's in the Tower District has much better ambience and decor, but don't miss the real experience Downtown.…
