angry customer. I went to The Stuffed Pipe here in Bakersfield, I've shopped there before and always had good experiences. I went to purchase a jack herrer pipe and a couple of other small things. When me and my friend entered the store, there were 3 small children inside!!! I was shocked, I thought children weren't allowed in pipe shops. They appeared to be around ages 9, 4 and the 9 yr old was carrying a baby. There were 6 people waiting to be helped counting my friend and I while the stuffed pipe employee was helping the lady for about 20 minutes while her 3 small children waited around the store. The mother asked if they had a restroom for her kids. The mother and 2 children went to the restroom as the 4 yr old stayed out in the store. 2 customers out of us 6 wating to be helped left the store. They were mad and said it was ridiculous as they left. The employee made eye contact with me so I asked if it was illegal to have those children in the store. She said "would you leave them outside?!" I told her no but I didn't think children were allowed so I was suprised she let the mother in with them. She said "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU CAN LEAVE!"!!!! I'm STILL in shock!! I looked at my friend and we sure did leave. So since it's a pipe shop I guess they don't need to provide good service. I called the manager the next morning and he apoligized and said he'll talk to her. He sounded pretty laid back and I was not satisfied. I will never give my business to the stuffed pipe shop again and I will definately pass the word on to my friends to not shop there. The guys in the past have been great but I spend a lot of money there and I just can't believe the way the shop is being ran. I'm a manager in retail, I sent an employee home for being rude to a customer! What is wrong with people these days? They don't care about all the money they lost? 4 customers walked out! And to top it off, the customer with the 3 kids bought some sex lotion! That sale couldn't of been more than $10! I know you don't help customers in the order by how much money they're going to spend but come on now.
new ownership is bad. Unfortunately, this store is under new ownership. The Stuffed Pipe stores were purchased by people who now mainly carry "made in china" products. The vaporizers are their worst cheap replacements, they might as well be bought from the punjab smoke shops on every other corner. The Stuffed Pipe was supposed to be a quality company, but now has gone down the toilet. The glass is mostly imported from china and very similar to the 3rd rate glass that can be found in liquor stores.
I purchased a Digi-vapor vaporizer in Nov. '08. Paid $150 because this one had a thermometer that allows you to set the temp. After about 1 month of use the thermometer stopped working. Then it stopped heating. I took it back to the shop (I had lost the receipt) and was informed by the clerk that he had to make a call. After his call he informed me I had to take it to the warehouse. I asked for the name of someone to talk to but he just gave me the phone #. He was nice enough and in the middle of this problem but at least he tried.
I took the phone # and called the warehouse. The man who answered the phone asked me if I had the warranty. I explained it didn't come with one but I still had the box and even the Styrofoam packaging. He said he couldn't do anything about it. So I asked him if that meant I was just out of luck and $150 and he said yes, without a warranty there's nothing I can do. I once again explained that it didn't come with one (I promise) and while I was talking he interrupted me and said he didn't like my attitude and wasn't going to talk to me anymore.
Granted, this is a head shop but I think those of us who use them and shell out the big bucks should be entitled to decent customer service. I will never shop there again and have no problem telling my friends to stay away. I would warn you to be very careful, especially when purchasing the Digi-Vapor herbal & Aromatherapy Vaporizer. It's a cool concept but not worth $150 for 1 month of use. Especially when the store won't even back up the product they sell AND you have to deal with extremely rude customer service at the warehouse. BEWARE.
